Scrapbook Classes

At The Scrapbox (the only scrapbooking store in Ottawa) where the owner and employees are super friendly and greet you by name (how many other businesses do that these days?), there is one super inspiring person, Stephanie!  Everytime I take her classes, I want to rush home and continue creating.  She's very inspiring and super fun!

Last night we created this little mini album.  It was a lot of fun and super cute!

I have signed up for another class on Feb. 13th.  Lou will be working and..... to boot it's his birthday - poor guy but he loves his job which makes it all OK.  This class, oh I can't wait...look how beautiful this is.....

One of my dreams is to work/own my very own scrapbook store in Prince Edward Island.  That dream will have to wait a bit longer as I have a great job right now and would be very silly to give that up right now.  14 more years and we'll see where life is at then.  For now I believe it would be awesome just to work in one, who knows.......

Dominican here we come!!

So we booked our trip to Punta Cana and we can't wait!  The sun, the beach, the pools............

We have decided to return to where we had stayed before, Grand Paradise Bavaro, with an ocean view of course!!
Another month and a half to go and we're off!!!

Christmas was awesome!!

It was an awesome time back in Nova Scotia.  We had a green Christmas for the most part but for a moment in the morning of Xmas Day, huge snowflakes were coming down and it was beautiful!
Got to see our nieces and nephews, a brother and all my sisters.
Here are just a few highlights:

Tristan decorating a Rice Krispie house (this is appartently what he was thankful for at Thanksgiving!!! Decorating gingerbread houses with Aunt Linda!!)

Every child has this photo to use as "Look how cute he was as a baby!" when they get older and girls start coming around!!

Tristan dressed up as BumbleBee, Aiden as a Star War Trooper and Seth as an intellectual 8 month old baby!!

Merry Woof Woof

Day 2 of travelling.
Was watching the news and Providence Rhode Island is supposed to get 16" of snow today!!!  Can you believe it?  Hopefully we'll be in Antigonish before we start to see that!!
Marlo's ready to head out again in the Venza!

Half-way there........7 hours down, 7-8 more to go

Right now we are settled in for the evening at the Days Inn in Edmunston and wow-wee is it cold here!  The thermometer in the Venza says it's -12 but with the wind, it feels more like -32, no lie!!!

Lou and Marlo are hanging out on the bed watching CSI, taking a rest.

Once the sun is up tomorrow morning, we head for Antgonish.  No travelling in the dark with all of those "Watch for the Moose" signs polluting the sides of the road!

Marlo's new T-shirt, freshly cleaned babies, and a stolen kiss.

Yesterday we went on a mission looking for an item which evidently sold out in half and hour on Friday.  Nevertheless our trip wasn't unfruitful, we found this cute T-shirt for Marlo.

Marlo has many babies and he loves, LOVES them!  Every once in a while I wash them for him to remove his dried up 'love kisses' that tend to leave them a little crusty!!
Here are a few pictures of the performance that goes on each time!!

Oh, the carnage!  Unfortunately he was never taught to pick up his toys and put them back in his toy box!

Oh Mom, you're not supposed to watching me and Steppy during our moments.  (Marlo was giving his Steppy some kisses and I interferred with their stolen moment!!

Shhhh baby's sleeping....

He woke me up at 5am this morning, so I put him up on the 'big' bed.  He kept twisting and turning, so we got up at 6am.
I went down to my craft room to finish the recipe books I promised for a Silent Auction.  I heard some crying so I get up and go out to the TV room.  He's wanting up on the sofa but can't jump that high.
I go out 10 minutes later and this was the sight I saw!

My most favourite time of the year, well second most!!!

Well, I have been literally kicked in the bum with H1N1 and now I have a cold with a cough that won't go away.  Energy way low but I have lost some poundage as you don't have an appetite at all.  It's gradually getting better but not as fast as I would like!!

This is the weekend where I put on Christmas music and bake my heart out!  Every year at work we have a bake sale that runs daily for 30 days.  Each manager has at least two sections and every week we have a competition between each section to see who can raise the most money with their baked goodies!!  All proceeds go to sponsor a family either in QC or ON - this year the family will be from QC.  We buy all the fixings for a great Christmas dinner and breakfast the next day.  We buy them boots, jackets, hats, mittens if Mom/Dad requests them, plus a fun item from "Santa".  We always request a family of a single Mom/Dad with three or more children.

Sooooo... this is when I bake up a storm, freeze everything and when it is my week to bring in baked goodies, I am not scrambling at the last minute!  Last year we were first place until....the very last section pulled out the big guns and served a lunch for $5 - cheaters I say.  It so happens that I am now a part of this 'cheater' section, so we have to win for sure!!!  Nothing like tooting your own horn!!!

Also this year we are going to Nova Scotia to spend the holidays with my family!  Woo-hoo!!!  I can't wait!!

I'll post some pics of the goodies later on.

So far so good!!!!!!!!!

First day Marlo was left alone and no accidents to report as a side effect of his Prednesone!!!  But wow, he couldn't get outside fast enough!
I could hear him crying at the hallway door inside the house so he heard me either opening the garage door or walking on the cement towards the hallway door.
That's good news for sure!

But the side effects - 'roid rage' came into play when I accidently knocked the dishwasher door down on his head.  Oh the cursing and swearing!!!  Wow-wee!

This cracks me up!!

There is a new TV show on called 'The Middle'.  It's kind of reminiscent of 'Malcome in the Middle'.
"The mom (Everybody Loves Raymond's wife), Frankie Heck is a superhero. Well, no, not an actual superhero—not unless you count getting her kids out the door for school every morning as a superfeat. Middle-aged, middle class and living in the middle of the country, this harried wife and working mother of three uses her wry wit and sense of humor to try to get her family through each day intact. Frankie has a job selling cars at the town's only surviving car dealer; her husband, Mike, is a manager at the local quarry.  The three children??  Axl is the oldest, a teenage jock who eats the family out of house and home and walks around in his underwear on "The Middle." Then there's Sue, their extraordinarily ordinary pre-teen daughter who fails at everything she tries with great gusto. Brick, the youngest son, is an odd kid whose best friend is his backpack."  - off the website.

On this particular episode, Frankie and Mike are celebrating their 16 & 17 anniversary.  They are going to go to French Lick (restaurant), stay over night at a Motor Inn, go to the carpet remnant store and then come home.  Well, at least that's their plan..............

The part of this show is when the Bassett Hound, Doris, is diagnosed with emphysema!!!  Frankie's two psychotic aunts smoke like troopers, their teeth fall out as easily as a five year olds, they have a reason to drink for everything.  Doris has to wear an oxygen tank and mask, a nicotine patch to help her with withdrawals, sports a diaper, and has to be carted around everywhere in a wagon as it's too hard for her to walk places!!!
Here are the aunts, Doris is in the middle - Frankie's two psychotic aunts and Doris
Doris herself - Doris the Bassett Hound has emphysema
